Prof Richard Davis, Chair Professor of the Department of History, Lingnan University, has been elected a member of the Executive Committee of the newly formed Hong Kong Academy of the Humanities. The committee’s first meeting was held on 18 April 2011.

Prof Kam Louie, the Academy’s newly elected President and Dean of Arts, the University of Hong Kong said, “The Hong Kong Academy of the Humanities was established to bring together a group of leading scholars from local universities, so that there will be a strong and unified voice to represent the humanities disciplines in the future.”

The academy has 39 Founding Fellows drawn from the eight publicly-funded local institutions of higher education and the Open University. They represent the disciplines of history, philosophy, literature, languages, linguistics, music, fine arts, Chinese, English, cultural studies and translation.
