Professor Leonard Chan, Chair Professor of Chinese Literature and Dean of Faculty of Languages, has been elected to the first Executive of the newly formed Hong Kong Academy of the Humanities. The Academy will be promoting the humanities to the government, business and the community in view of its vital role in enriching civic life.

The Academy aims to bring together Hong Kong’s leading humanities scholars from all of its institutions of higher education to form a strong united voice on behalf of the humanities, and to properly recognise excellence in humanities scholarship and research. Upon its establishment, the Academy has also drawn its 39 Foundation Fellows, including Professor Chan, from the eight government-funded institutions of higher education and The Open University Hong Kong to honour their high achievements.
