



We are saddened to report that David Parker passed away on Thursday 29 October, peacefully in his sleep. He had successfully battled multiple myeloma, a form of cancer, for the last two years and had remained mobile and cheerful until the final month or so.

To document the collaboration between Springer and the Hong Kong Academy of the Humanities to publish a new book series, The Humanities in Asia, a ceremony is arranged and faculty heads and researchers from the field are invited. Please join us in celebrating this precious moment.
On behalf of the Hong Kong Academy of the Humanities, I am writing to you to ask for yourassistance with a small project intended to help all Hong Kong scholars in the Humanities toprepare for the next RAE and its inevitable emphasis on questions of “impact” and “KnowledgeTransfer” (or “Knowledge Exchange” in the UK). This will require only about 5 minutes of yourtime, but will provide an invaluable resource/database for our use in lobbying UGC and advocatingthe Humanities over the short to medium term.

The Third Annual General Meeting of the Hong Kong Academy of the Humanities will be held at 6:30 pm on Wed 30 Aprilat The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Cho Yiu Hall. We’ll have a small reception with wine, drinks and light snacks from 6pm.
Free parking is available on campus, please see attached map for driving directions. We’ll also arrange car pick-up from the University MTR station Exit A (Bus Stop No. 2 next to Liberty Statue with rainbow skirt).
